Starting Point

Providing support for young people aged 16 - 25 who are not in education, employment or training, through mentoring and work experience.

We provide young people with suitable, quality mentors who will educate, support and encourage them to make the sometimes difficult transition into work, additional education or training. Our activities include helping with CVs and applications, coaching for interviews, being a listening ear and developing skills for the workplace, such as listening, communication and time-keeping. Mentors will be given training prior to their involvement, in addition to on-going support once they begin mentoring. This ensures they are aware of their roles and responsibilities as well as knowing who to refer onto when questions arise outside of their expertise. DBS checks will also be required.

Work Experience

We also offer work experience placements that allow young people to get a taste of what working in that industry would be like. These vary in duration and type, depending on the needs of the business and the young person involved. Employers who are interested in providing placements will be given support and guidance by our trained Work Experience Placement Coordinator. All young people involved in the programme, as well as the businesses, will be required to sign an agreement to ensure that they are aware of what is expected of them during their time on placement.
